Five More Canada Tyranny Thoughts Under the Fedora

Posted: February 20, 2022 by datechguy in Uncategorized

How much longer do you think it will be before Trudeau’s Canada decides to deny the use of their national healthcare system to the Truckers and those who supported them?

Canada is one of the side effects of a post Christian Society. When you no longer have to love your enemies and no longer fear hell it’s amazing what a person is willing to do.

There was a tic tock video about starving out NYC and that reminded me of something. Cities are not by their nature self supporting in terms of food. If you have 200,000 people you need a ton of food trucked in every day to feed and support them. Obviously the tuckers have not cut off said supplies but I’m wondering what will happen if they continue to be pushed.

The folks at Red State made a great point, the threat to go after supporters of the Truckers long after this is all over removes any incentive for them to back down. This is an elementary fact.

One of the things I’ve pointed out before is that Trudeau and the Ottawa police are much more willing to move in on these truckers because they know that unlike how they are being portrayed, they are not in fact violent thugs so their lives and safety are not in danger when they do so. What will happen if they reach the point where they decide: ” If you’re going to treat us like violent terrorists no matter what we might as well go down as wolves rather than sheep.” I half think that’s the Trudeau government’s goal to push them over the line so they can kill them with a clear conscience.

One bonus thought: This is a reminder that freedom is not the natural state of man, foraging and starvation is and western civilization and capitalism, both tempered by Christianity are the primary reason why America and Europe have lived as we have for so long. Chesterton’s Fence argument is coming home to roost but that’s for a longer post.

I’m a sucker for a bargain in fact this morning with daWife at the cassino with her friend until later this evening I’m thinking of Wendy’s run just to get the free large Diet Rootbeer that goes with the breakfast sandwidth. Everyone loves something for nothing.

And that’s what the Biden Administration is trying to turn the Ukraine into.

Let’s preface this by saying that Putin would not mind adding Ukraine back into Russia where it was for a couple of hundred years before the fall of the Soviet Union and note that he was more than willing to go into Georgia and retake bits of Ukraine to regain strategic lands on the black sea.

But a protracted war against a hostile population is always a risk and if you can get the concessions you want without fighting that’s always a plus and frankly the closer the Russian frontier moves toward Poland the more likely the Poles, who have an excellent army, know their history and have no love for the Russians are likely to get involved,

Of course when it comes down to it, such an invasion is all about risk and reward and thanks the the Biden admin the risk has been seriously dropping.

Said administration has been taking action after action to improve Russia’s standing for the last year from cutting off US oil production to backing Russian pipelines. As long as there is an energy crunch Russia is in a strong position.

Glenn Reynolds noted this in a piece at the NY Post:

Back in 2017, Walter Russell Mead wrote: If Donald Trump “were the Manchurian candidate that people keep wanting to believe that he is, here are some of the things he’d be doing:

Limiting fracking as much as he possibly could

Blocking oil and gas pipelines

Opening negotiations for major nuclear arms reductions

Cutting U.S. military spending

Trying to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran.”

Trump, of course, did none of those things, and indeed the entire “Russian collusion” narrative that the press pushed for his entire presidency has been thoroughly exploded.

But someone is doing these things, right now. I’m talking, of course, about Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., who at his shambolic Wednesday press conference gave Russia the go-ahead to invade Ukraine, though it was quickly walked back by backwalker-in-chief Jen Psaki, his press secretary.

With poll numbers tanking and too many local elections in trouble for the Democrats to steal all of them the Biden administration needs something ANYTHING to change the subject.

The media being in this administration’s pocket wants an excuse to cover something other than the failures of the left in general and the Biden Administration in particular and a potential war in Ukraine is just the ticket. The fact that Putin is not woke on the whole LGBTQ business is to them even bigger villainy than Ukraine so they’re happy to pile on.

Building up a Putin inversion of Ukraine is, in their mind a WIN-WIN for them.

  • If Putin doesn’t invade and never planned on it they can claim a victory for stopping a war that wasn’t coming. This is true even if there are humiliating concessions from Ukraine and/or the west
  • If Putin DOES invade then he can claim his intelligence was spot on and slap on meaningless and ineffective sanctions while pretending to be a strong leader.

Either way the US press will lap it up.

Both of these things are obscene but here’s the real kicker.

Let’s say, for the sake of argument that I’m right and Putin wasn’t planning on going into Ukraine at all. He sees all of these things going on, he sees the panic, he sees the weakness of the west and their dependence on him, he even sees Biden suggest that Putin can take Ukraine and there isn’t much we can do about it.

Might he decide that he’s is being offered a bargain that’s worth it and decide to move before a stronger and more decisive administration is in place?

I suspect if war comes to Ukraine that will be the reason and we’ll have the Biden Administration to take for it.

My wife bought me both Bill James Historical Abstracts for Christmas the 1985 and the 2003 edition. The newer one had a story about Vic Power the premiere defensive first baseman of the late 50’s and early 60’s that made me laugh out loud and when I repeated it told a story about how far we’ve come on race in the US.

Power was a very dark skinned Puerto Rican player who came up in the early 50’s just as the integration of baseball was taking place. He as I noted (and as his stats at baseball reference.com can tell you) was a spectacular fielding first baseman winning gold gloves every year from 1958-1964 a six time all star in four years (some years two AS games were played) who could hit a bit often in the top ten of hitting categories and leading the league in triples once.

He was also rather outspoken and outgoing and was considered by racists of the time “an uppity nigger” (FYI Bill James notes this reference without spelling the actual word saying “uppity n-word”. I don’t believe in this N-word bullshit. I prefer to quote the actual offensive words being used, even that most offensive of words: “Semprini” , because it’s proper for us to see things as they actually were. If you are offended by their use at that time, good you should be. If you are offended by me quoting said offensive language to illustrate it, may I suggest there are plenty of other blogs out there for the weak of heart to read, but I digress…) but Power didn’t care not let such people stop him. A great illustration of this came in a story that James told of him.

He stopped by a restaurant in Syracuse to eat and the waiter walked up to him nervously saying to him: “I’m sorry sir we don’t serve colored people in this restaurant.” Power didn’t miss a beat in his reply: “That’s all right, I don’t eat colored people.”

James doesn’t relate what happened next but I laughed so loud & hard when I read it that all the people in the lunch room turned to stare, but the most interesting thing came when I was heading back from break toward my work station.

I passed by the guards station and the guard on duty was a thirty year old fellow who I knew to be a baseball fan. I told him the story and he smiled at the punch line but it was his reaction to the words of the waiter that struck me.

It was utter amazement. I’m almost sixty and while not old enough to remember ever hearing that in person I’m old enough for such a thing to be not unfamiliar to me, but to him the very idea that a person might choose to deny service to a person because of their race was so foreign and unthinkable to him that he just couldn’t process it.

I can think of no more concrete sign that we have really moved forward on race than that.

After what we’ve seen up north this week any person who trust their funds in a Canadian Bank is a fool.

Trudeau is taking a lot of heat for these decision but it’s worth noting that his party is backing him up. If they thought he was going to far he would be out but they’re all in for Fascism.

If you ever wondered why the left has worked so hard to get rid of the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans, look at Canada.

If there was ever a moment for a Canadian Provence to decide to declare independence, either Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland now is it.

Imagine what the left would be saying if Trudeau had used these tactics against the violent BLM protesters. In fact anyone who suggested we would be seeing this stuff out of Canada a year ago would have been called mad.
