…it’s because I got home late from game night. We finally had 6 guys so we played the Anniversary edition of Axis and allies. Very long game and we didn’t finish. We will try to pick it from from next week. The Russian Bear is teetering, Both the US and England have developed Shipyard improvement and German paratroopers are now wreaking havoc. Even Italy is making it’s presence felt.

The new version is very interesting I like the addition of Italy and the re-done Map. It’s a first rate game but I don’t think it was worth the $100 Ken paid for it. Although I’ve got to admit the pieces are awesome. The tanks and ships correspond to the nation that produces them. For example for the British their fighter planes are spitfires, for the Germans their artillery are 88’s etc etc etc. It’s a lot of chrome but you pay for it.

Was checking out Colin Baker’s blog and found myself empathizing with this paragraph:

If ever I post blogs on this site regularly, you should worry for my well being. It will mean that I have time on my hands and am not working. And not working, while I have two daughters at University and one still at school is, believe me, bad news!

Sometimes people forget that just because someone is on TV they don’t make big money automatically.

Cuba comes back Cuba 5 Australia 4

Who says you can’t get good work out of slave labor? For the second time tonight a pinch hitter makes the difference late to get their team back into it. In this case a pinch 8th inning two run homer put the Cuban team ahead and a 1-2-3 night gave them a trip to the states.

A fine game all around. Australia has really showed that they belong in this tourney. This sets up quite a revenge match for Mexico who will be desperate to avoid the fate of their fellow Latin Americans in the Dominican Republic.

I must confess I would have liked to see Castro’s boys go home early. The only thing I like about them going to San Diego is that is a better location to defect from.

A good night for dictators

Well Italy was good enough to bounce Canada but wasn’t good enough to defeat Hugo’s boys as the Venezuelan team stomped the 10-1 to clinch a 2nd round berth.

Between these guys and the Cubans Latin American dictators are having a pretty good series. That’s one way to get people’s minds off their troubles.
