Rush just said on the air that Obama would not have been elected if he wasn’t black.

If this isn’t the main story on Morning Joe tomorrow then it’s only because it was canceled overnight.
Update: Yes I know there was a time where because of his race he might not have had any chance for election to anything. But come on, Obama over Harold Ford? Obama over John Lewis? Cripes ethics issues aside Charlie Rangel is so much more qualified than President Obama that it isn’t funny. Look at the membership of the Congressional Black Caucus and tell me you can’t six people who were more qualified in 2008?

Had Bush’s second term gone more smoothly, and the economy didn’t tank, $5+/gallon gas, bank bailouts, stimulus, etc., then a republican might have won.
Regardless of who the candidates were in the ’08 election, the democratic nominee would have been elected in the general election. White Hillary or Black Hillary, Black Obama or White Obama or Orange Obama, whomever it didn’t matter…remember all those calls for change in Washington, and McCain distancing himself from the Bush agenda?
The fact is Obama won. He gets his 4 years. Deal with it. If you don’t like it, try to vote him out in 2012.
By the way Rush, in 2012 he’ll still be black then too.
