This weekend will be filled with Super Bowl and COVID-19 news. At least, if you follow CNN, that’s all that seems to be happening in the world.

But hey, what’s this link to “Myanmar?”

Oh, never mind, just that Myanmar is blocking some social media websites.

I wonder what Global Times thinks of Myanmar?

Oh, a cabinet reshuffle? Sounds like something pretty boring. Let’s head over to Al-Jazeera.

Myanmar just had a coup. After actually having elections in 2015, and seeming to be trending towards democracy, Myanmar took a huge step backwards. The military, led by General Min Aung Hlaing, was losing influence as more people voted for the National League for Democracy party, which is led by the current sitting president, Aung San Suu Kyi. Instead of continuing to pull the levers of power in the background, General Hlaing instead arrested Aung San Suu Kyi and is posed to take over completely. It’s likely because his current post in the military ends this summer, and he’s positioning himself to be “elected” President.

All of this is real news, and a real foreign policy challenge for the United States, as China is more than happy to let the Myanmar military remove a democratic government on its border. But as illustrated above, you would never know about it unless drilled down deep into non-traditional media sources. My list of media includes the BBC ( and Al-Jazeera ( BBC has really good non-U.S. news, and Al-Jazeera is great for south Asia and African news. I don’t trust either on their U.S. or Israel reporting, but that’s OK, I have other sources for that.

The days of being able to just get all the headlines from CNN or Fox News are past. News, especially non-US news, is increasingly filtered out, despite its importance. Start adding BBC and Al-Jazeera to your list of daily news sources, recognizing where they fall short.

This post represents the views of the author and not those of the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or any other government agency.

The real significance of the Time Story

Apparently the only people not in on trying to fix the election was the American voter.

Now that Biden/Harris are in office, it’s a perfect time to announce that the Left brought together millions of dollars and ensured that states would change their voting laws – illegally in many cases such as Virginia and California, ensured that judges would refuse to hear cases of voter fraud, and deployed thousands of people to help ensure that Election 2020 was “fortified” on behalf of the Democrats.

Who were all those people who “fortified” the election? People from Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter, AFL-CIO, Fight Back Table (a coalition of resistance organizations), civil rights organizations and more. Once you take a closer look, you’ll realize that all involved are leftist groups.

Millions of dollars were spent on this effort. Hell, $300 million came from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative! So Mark Zuckerberg has zero room to talk about how Facebook doesn’t censor. He and Dorsey were in on this. They had dinner with major principals of this Protect Democracy effort. With the result being that any information or commentary that the Democrats decided was disinformation would be banned.

What’s really amazing is that with all of these folks conspiring they still needed to steal the election to get Biden in.

You would think this piece would never come out but the point of playing this publicly is to let us know whose in charge and tell us who is the ruler and who is the serf.

I’m starting to think they want a shooting war as an excuse to kill us.

Ferris Buehler once said, “Life moves pretty fast.” The truant wasn’t kidding. Seems just yesterday All Cops Were Bastards, or something, and burning government buildings down was peaceful protest, and suggesting the National Guard be used to quell rioters was actual violence.

Those were the days, my friend.

Now, 26,000 National Guard troops patrol D.C. like the capitol of some Banana Republic after a junta-staged coup, and cops are bastards unless they’re protecting politicians from the mob, and if you’re not cooperating with the FBI, you’re really endangering your future there, kid.

Bank of America really took that last one to heart. As reported by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, America’s second-largest bank, with more than 60 million customers, secretly searched through its massive database of its customers’ financial and transaction records to determine if any of its customers took part in the riots on January 6 in Washington, D.C.

Without its customers’ knowledge or consent, the bank, per Carlson, sought customers who made purchases in D.C. between January 5-6, customers who paid for hotel or lodging in D.C, Virginia and Maryland after January 6, and any purchases of weapons or at a weapons-related merchant between January 7 and Inauguration Day, and airline related purchases since January 6.

None of these actions are illegal.

Bank of America turned over to the FBI the records of 211 customers who met this profile.

What an incredible breach of trust Bank of America has committed. They have no right to go through its customers private financial records, much less to give them to the FBI.

Per the New York Post, Bank of America responded: “We don’t comment on our communications with law enforcement. All banks have responsibilities under federal law to cooperate with law enforcement inquiries in full compliance with the law.”

B of A is likely referencing the Bank Secrecy Act, the 1970 law intended to combat “money laundering, terrorist financing and other criminal acts and the misuse of our nation’s financial institutions,” as one of the agencies charged with enforcing the law puts it.

But nothing in the records Bank of America searched and turned over to the FBI could possibly suggest anything even illegal, let alone related to terrorism or “other criminal acts.” Even buying a t-shirt at a gun shop would set off the Bank of America snoops.

Bank of America should be ashamed of itself, but in a shameless world, I won’t hold my breath. As ever, the banks are their own best argument for going bankless. I just never pegged them for Frenesi Gates.
