Mac Jones can’t win.

Last week he was pilloried by Patriots greats on the air for not doing all he could to stop Las Vegas (had to stop myself from typing “Oakland”) from scoring on that last play that cost New England a game they should have won.

Now a week late he makes a desperate attempt to stop Germaine Pratt from scoring a touchdown on a recovered fumble that if not for the Dolphins falling apart might have ended their playoff hopes and he’s attacked for it and fined by the NFL.

It may or may not be fair but I think that Mac is in a no-win position. He can’t be Brady and will never be Brady.

At least the Redsox Went from the greatest hitter of all time (Williams), to an all time great HOF (Yaz) to a power hitting Hall of Famer (Rice) to a pretty good outfielder (Greenwell) over 25 years easing the blow. No such luck for spoiled Pats fans.

There was a time before Tom Brady when the Redsox ruled this town. Even in the days of Russell, Havlicek and Bird it was a baseball town. Tom Brady made the difference and while David Ortiz kept the flame alive Brady’s timeless success wrenched the city away from the bats and balls and delivered it to the pigskin.

Right now the Patriots are in the lowest point that they’ve been and if the Red Sox ownership was smart they would take this moment to invest heavily to grab back the hearts of the fans from the gridiron and back to the diamond.

The current strategy may be penny wise but it’s pound foolish. The Pats are giving the Sox a huge opening which a wise ownership should drive right through.

However I suspect they are not all that wise.

Just four years ago you didn’t have stories of people “dying suddenly” at young ages. Now it’s so common that if a week passes without such an event it’s a miracle.

The worst of it is that now we have more studies from every inhabited continent that show Ivermectin (.02 a pill) to be effective against COVID. as noted “100% of these have shown positive results.” at the same time the Twitter files have revealed a concerted effort to suppress information and/or opinions from medical experts contrary to the sanctioned positions of the Biden Administration.

These people and those who submitted to their will have a lot of bodies to answer for and they are very lucky that it is no longer considered fashionable for those who have had husbands ,wives, children and parents die from their despicable acts to take personal revenge. It it was, none of those bastards would last a week.

It has been less than twenty years since the Massachusetts Supreme Court by a 4-3 vote legalized gay marriage in the state and then governor Mitt Romney did all he could to keep it off the ballot in order to advance his presidential ambitions.

Now twenty years later we see the results as summarized in a single tweet

All this is by design, the next generation of Jeffrey Epstien’s and the next generation of Prince Andrews and the like who they will serve need to get their fodder from somewhere.

Incidentally I suspect there are more than a few Epsteins out there still serving the same customer base that Ms. Maxwell keeps in her head. Jeffrey just happens to be the one that was caught which makes him the exception.

Finally the single most significant story of the day is likely this one. The drone war in Ukraine and Russia:

In fact, one of the Iranian companies named by Britain, France and Germany as a key manufacturer of one of the two types of drones being bought by the Russians, Qods Aviation, has appeared for years on the United Nations’ lists of suppliers to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. The company, which is owned by Iran’s military, has expanded its line of drones despite waves of sanctions.

The administration’s scramble to deal with the Iranian-supplied drones comes at a significant moment in the war, just as Ukraine is using its own drones to strike deep into Russia, including an attack this week on a base housing some of the country’s strategic bombers.

The widespread use of drones in warfare and the Islamic state of Iran’s ability to produce “Kamikaze” drones should be of great worry to us as that is likely going to be the next tool of international terrorism and it goes without saying the next phase of warfare in general. After all consider the cost of maintaining a single destroyer vs the cost of a drone that can be programed to hit a specific geographical location.

If that doesn’t put a shudder in your spine nothing will.

Because I had to take people to the airport for 2 AM today I took yesterday off. As I never have Sunday’s off I went to my local 99’s to watch a bit of the Patriots Jets game. With under a minute in the 1st half with the Jets up 10-3 Mac Jones threw what was a pick six that would have made the game 17-3 and likely ushered in the Baily Zappe era in New England but a roughing the passer penalty on the Jets John Franklin Meyers erased said pick and Jones was able to not only manage to drive for a field goal to end the half at 10-6 but was able to lead the pats for a TD to start the 2nd half. By the start of the 4th quarter the pats were up 19-10 on their way to a 22-17 final score.

Jones should send Meyers a fruit basket as he may have single handedly saved his season.

Speaking of devastating things while I was watching the game at the 99’s the following ad played on the screen.

While it was not likely intended as such it is a devastating ad against the Democrats, An ad that reminds people of soaring gas prices (they just went up .40 in my town this week) is exactly what the Democrats don’t need playing on the most watched sporting events of the weekend.

And it didn’t cost the RNC or any conservative pacs a cent.

While I already noted that the left really would rather spend this week talking about Pelosi than the upcoming crushing defeat that the Democrats are heading for and that Don Surber wisely said he would wait till today to say anything there were some interesting exchanges on twitter where the left kept pushing the idea that people on the right aren’t worried about Paul Pelosi being assaulted. To wit:

This prompted a reply from a leftist that perfectly encapsulates what the left believes when it comes to violence.

Oh and Lt. Columbo’s questions concerning the narrative in play (two of which, the number of Hammers and Underwear are now in question) and the reason for said nutjob being at the Pelosi place not withstanding…

…nut jobs assaulting people, any people are a bad thing and I wish Mr. Pelosi a speedy and complete recovery. As for what happened, the security footage and the body cam footage from the police should clarify a lot, assuming it’s released.

Oh and for the record you only have to go back five days to see a Democrat who ran for president justifying SCOTUS justices being targeted for murder:

A lot of people took a real fit over this reply (since deleted)) to Hillary Clinton by Elon Musk.

Forgetting for a moment the speculation in the opinion piece linked, It’s worth noting that while Mrs. Clinton has 31 million followers Elon has over 113 Million, or to put it another way consider this.

If every single one of Hillary Clinton’s followers currently followed Elon Musk and then decided to unfollow him Musk would still reach over 50 million more accounts than Hillary would on twitter.

Do you really want to bait a guy with access to this many people? It can be a game changer to your narrative.

Meanwhile here is one story that all this Pelosi stuff is chasing off the front pages:

Cynthia Harris, a Democrat who ran unsuccessfully for District 6 commissioner in Orange County, which includes Orlando, provided a sworn complaint to the election crimes office, alleging left-leaning organizations have been perpetrating a scheme to encourage residents in black neighborhoods to apply for mail-in ballots and to fill out those ballots, which she said have been collected by paid canvassers, and sometimes altered, all in violation of state law.

In an interview with The Washington Times, Ms. Harris said she has video evidence of paid ballot harvesters operating in Orlando neighborhoods in both 2014 and 2017, and that the scheme has been going on for decades, continuing through the 2020 election and the 2022 primary.

Ballot harvesting, for example, was pioneered by the PRI party in Mexico, which held power for 70 years as a one-party state, having maneuvered itself into this position precisely with this practice. It was not for nothing that writer Mario Vargas Llosa called this setup “the perfect dictatorship.” Democrats, many of them with roots in the Mexican illegal alien community in California, brought this practice with them and adapted it to California’s elections — the point that real Mexican nationals are appalled. One told me that California’s politics resemble Mexico’s 40 years ago, Mexico having instituted more safeguards to prevent this rigging from happening.

In fairness of course odds are the Media would be ignoring this story completely even if this Pelosi story never existed.

Was it just one year ago that Cam Newton was released by the Patriots and the starting Job put in the hands of Mac Jones? Can you imagine how different this season would have been if he was kept as a backup?

At the start of the season if you told me that Patriots would be 3-3 the reaction of everyone would be “meh” and nobody would be talking much about the team.

But with Mac Jones still down with an injury and the 3rd string 4th round pick winning two straight suddenly the Pats are the talk of the town.

It’s all in the enviorment.

When Mac Jones first got hurt we were talking 4-6 weeks and some were hitting him for not opting for surgery to speed things up rather than taking the longer route. Now I suspect nobody in Patriots nation want to rush him back.

Now the wise thing with Zappe playing so well is to let Jones heal fully rather than rush him and risk further injury, the question is now that his job might be in danger will Jones feel the same.

Nobody wants to be the next Wally Pip although it’s premature to call Zappe the next Lou Gehrig

At the start of the season everyone was laughing at the idea of Belichick using failed head coaches Joe Judge and Matt Patricia running the offense together without an offensive coordinator with Josh McDaniels gone to the Raiders.

Well now nobody is laughing with the Pats 3-3 even with a 3rd string QB and McDaniels Raiders 1-4.

Apparently I underestimated Bill Belichick’s decision making big time.

Finally Zappe himself has done an excellent job in the Patriots system and I see no reason to bench him if he keeps winning.

Furthermore I see no downside of having two solid QB’s in the tent. Remember Brady going down vs Pittsburgh in the AFC championship and Bledsoe coming in to save the day.

If Bill doesn’t have that 2nd front line QB does Brady get that 1st ring and all those who follow?

I say use the SF method with Montana and Young. keep em both fresh and make other teams worry about who they’re facing.

After all these are two rookie contracts so you can afford to keep em both without big cap hits, take advantage and run with it.

Five Cam Newton Release Mac Jones Thoughts

I don’t watch football anymore except for Tom Brady, but the release of Cam Newton is such an interesting story that it deserves a blog post:

  1. This caught a lot of people by surprise in the sense that since Mac Jones was drafted the question has been Cam or Mac, Mac or Cam. This has been the conversation every single day on Boston sports radio and a lot of the consensus has been that it was Cam’s job to lose. Right up until the story broke nobody saw it coming.

  1. There is some speculation that Newton was released as a favor to him once he had lost the QB competition to Jones (which wasn’t clear to the public two days ago) because being released now gives him a chance at a starting position in another organization. Any other season this would not likely be possible but with two weeks before opening day this is something that a team could actually consider.

  1. The release of Newton brings two different conflicting woke dynamics into play here. Cam was the first black “starting” quarterback in the history of the Boston/New England Patriots franchise (Jacoby Brissette started two games during Tom Brady’s “Deflategate” suspension). So you would think that there might be a bit of the race card pushback on this move, particular as it’s a “Boston” Team. However Cam was also “unvaccinated” and right now among those who are woke the decision not to get the COVID vaccine by a very public figure who has a large fanbase is considered almost as beyond the pale as voting Trump. It’s no accident that I’ve heard sports folk talk about Cam’s vaccinated status concerning this move but I’ve not heard a word concerning race although in fairness there is not an “ineligible” list based on race.

  1. While Cam’s shortcomings were a standard feature of sports talk radio last year locally, nationally there was little or no such discussion concerning Cam Newton’s performance or lack thereof. There was further (and listening to the radio yesterday) still a whole plethora of people who all had excuses for his leading the Patriots to their 1st losing season since before Tom Brady took over the team. The speed at which a team decides to pick up Newton or if he is picked up at all will tell us if this was just pundits being pundits or if front offices and GM’s around the league were part of that willful blindness that seems to engulf folks on the subject of Newton and the Patriots

  1. It would seem to me that one of the deciding factors here would be Jones similarity to the Brady style which is the offense that the Patriots Josh McDaniels has had success with. Expect to see a lot of this over the next decades as a generation of kids who watched Tom Brady play and pretended to be him or dreamed of being him over the last twenty years reach the college and pro-level. It remains to be seen of any of said kids can come anywhere close to being him but it’s worth noting what Newton’s departure means in terms of age and experience among AFC East starting QB’s
