Times are hard. Foreclosures are up, The auto makers are looking for a bailout, I’m looking for work and Fitchburg is ticketing Santa, but the New York Yankees are still the New York Yankees:

In the early hours yesterday morning, the Yankees got their man, when they reached agreement with Sabathia on a seven-year, $161-million contract that he can opt out of after three seasons.

Sabathia is the premier prize the Yankees sought to land this offseason, but they still are pursuing pitching, with long-term contract offers to A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe. The Sabathia contract will not be official until he passes a physical and signs.

I still like our rotation better with a fair amount of young arms , Josh Beckett and my favorite Tim Wakefield the rubber armed ageless knuckle baller.

It will take more than Sabathia for them to beat us next year.
