The Tabletop league that I started 22 years ago is having its annual draft today. I am no longer an active player, but am League treasurer so I will be attending. I may liveblog the draft today.

We started with Status Pro Baseball, back in 1987, we then played one season of Strat-o-matic (that was the season that I won it all) and we now play Dynasty baseball. An awesome game.

…for such a big game.

1:09 p.m. Do you really want to be bunting on the very first pitch?

1:14 p.m. When you don’t have much of an offense you can’t be first pitch swinging constantly.

1:18 p.m. This is what happens when you look at a few pitches instead of just swinging. Also these guys have seen Ponson.

1:19 p.m. I was hoping we had escaped the Bellefonte chant.

1:21 p.m. I disagree, if you play with the infield in with no out in the bottom of the first you tell your offense that they aren’t any good.

1:22 p.m. Reynolds makes the point that I did about these guys having seen Ponson before.

1:30 p.m. The wife just got home and wants to go to lunch so we will likely be scooting and the man is nailed at the plate.

1:32 p.m. The first out is at the plate but the next batter drives in the run. What did Reynolds say about not scoring?

1:34 p.m Strike 3 two down. Kenley up.

1:36 p.m. 2-3 on a 2-2 pitch and we are knotted after 1 1/2 and I’m off to use up some Friendly’s free ice cream cone coupons.

3:33 p.m. Just came in to see that Venezuela won 3-1. Darn.

Arthur Carter Watch Lets try to re-lose the cold war

You know it took about 46 years to win the cold war. And it looks like president Obama is doing his best to undo that win:

A Russian Air Force chief said Saturday that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered an island as a temporary base for strategic Russian bombers, the Interfax news agency reported.

The chief of staff of Russia’s long range aviation, Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, also said Cuba could be used to base the aircraft, Interfax reported.

Lets see kicked out of Kyrgyzstan, pulling out the missile defense that Poland still wants and now here come bombers once again on the doorstep. Hotair nails it:

Recall that Barack Obama ran in part on a campaign to “restore diplomacy” in foreign relations. Hillary Clinton made a big show of bringing a “reset button” to her first meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, in which the button was labeled incorrectly and not spelled in Cyrillic. This followed her bumbling show at the EU, making it clear to the Russians that our foreign service was in complete disarray, run by imcompetents.

Can you imagine Russia trying this with George Bush? For that matter, can you imagine Bush losing Kyrgyzstan — and a vital military route — to Putin? Russia is doing this now because Putin and Medvedev understand that they can get away with it.

Do you think the middle east et/al is noticing who the strong horse and how the weak horse is. And just think we have another 46 months of this.

Update: Don Surber nails it:

President Obama’s overtures to Russia and Cuba have been answered.

They think he is a lightweight.

Read his whole post, I agree with every word except for “think”.

Update 2: Stop the ACLU has a roundup.
