Here Come Da Draft

From the 17th to the early 19th century the British Navy routinely pressed men into service in the royal navy to fill up the crews that could not be managed by volunteers or those recruited at the courts who were given the choice of their prison sentence or service in the navy. This was considered a necessity particularly during wartime and England’s power and might were entirely dependent on their navy and their control of the seas.

There was a brief time during this period where Royal Navy pay was actually competitive enough to draw men but inflation combined with the harsh and cruel service made such temporary advantages disappear over time.

The urgency to fill these slots was critical both to the Captain and his junior officers. A Captain and his officers who could not crew his ship adequately might find themselves as inactive officers on half pay. So their very lively hoods depended on having adequate manpower on their ships.

And that brings us the US Army and Navy and their current situations.

You would think a tough economy might be fertile recruiting ground for the armed services these days.

You’d be wrong and it’s brought things to a rather desperate state

The Defense Department has for the first time allowed 700 recruits who had been diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder to join the military without a waiver under revamped rules that could be a pathway for those who have confronted mental-health or other developmental conditions.

In June, the military, which has been facing major recruiting challenges, said that those who had suffered from 38 different medical conditions could serve as long as they hadn’t demonstrated symptoms nor required medication for treatment for three, five and seven years, depending on the condition.

Yup nothing says a strong military like recruiting people with mental illnesses. Just the type of folks you want arm and teach to kill.

But between the vaccine requirements and the new woke stuff the Military has become less and less attractive to those who would normally be most likely to join as Beege Wellborn notes a woke officer looking to please those above them can make things hell:

The primary difference being, as every veteran knows, that on a college campus or at a job, when you tell the hired DEI Nazi they are free to blow their suggestions how you should frame your language out a selected orifice, the absolute worst that happens is unemployment or disenrollment.

It’s very different in the military – they own you, once you freely raise that right hand. The same negative response to the new regime Biden and the wokester brass are cementing in place can be – literally – a life-destroying experience, especially if you have that craven, vindictive brand of SNCO or senior officer who loves his next rank and the desk he’s in right now more than anything else in the world. They will put your infidel butt out on the street in a flame of glory purely as a box ticky for their career.

But the real story here is this tidbit:

Listening to friends, other vets, and fellow Marines, that has to be happening more often than not. When I pose that question, “Would you tell a kid today to go in/enlist?” the first exclamation out of their mouths rhymes with “duck” and is followed by an emphatic “NO!”

It is so toxic.

A family with a military tradition is usually the perfect recruiting ground for quality people. Once you reach a point where people with Military experience steer their folks away from the services then things like this take place:

That’s why the Navy’s announcement that it is lowering minimum scores on the Armed Forces Qualification Test and lifting its recruiting age limit from 35 year old to 41 is worrisome. If not accompanied by additional safeguards, these changes signal bad faith toward the nation and the recruit.

It’s no secret why the Navy is lowering standards: its recruitment program is in heavy seas. The service failed to meet its 2020 recruiting goals. As a result, it has fewer people in training to serve in the fleet — and that fleet has a key role to play if the U.S. is stay ahead of the fast-rising China threat.

All of this is in fact self inflicted and while Mr. Welborn doesn’t see how this shakes out I do.

Sooner or later there will not be the manpower to justify the various woke officers who have done all they can to impress the leftists in charge at DoD and when that happens those folks will need bodies and as impressment isn’t a thing here you will eventually see the return of the draft because even when this lot is finally out of office those military families will not have enough trust in the bureaucrats to recommend their kids to join up.

The draft is coming and I can’t wait to see the woke kids howl when it does.

Today we have Christmas music from one king to another Elvis Presley.

The installment of the Twitter Files released this past Monday contains very damming evidence that the Biden Regime played a direct role in the large-scale censorship of countless Americans.

The Freedom of Speech Clause of the First Amendment specifically prevents the federal government from infringing with the free speech of any American. If a president were to order the censorship of American people that would be a violation of the First Amendment, along with his oath of office.  The framers of the Constitution would most definitely consider this an impeachable offense.

As you can see from this CNS News article, the Biden White House is directly implicated in this despicable mass censorship of Conservatives and Libertarians on Twitter.

In the summer of 2021, president Biden said social media companies were ‘killing people’ for allowing vaccine misinformation. Berenson was suspended hours after Biden’s comments, and kicked off the platform the following month.

“Berenson sued (and then settled with) Twitter. In the legal process Twitter was compelled to release certain internal communications, which showed direct White House pressure on the company to take action on Berenson.”

Zweig said the evidence — a Twitter executive’s summary of meetings with the White House — shows that the Biden White House “repeatedly attempted to directly influence” Twitter’s content.

A Twitter executive wrote that “the Biden team was ‘very angry’ that Twitter had not been more aggressive in deplatforming multiple accounts. They wanted Twitter to do more.”

Millions of Americans were silenced by Twitter simply because they dared to write and share posts that contradicted the official party line of the Biden Regime.

“Inevitably, dissident yet legitimate content was labeled as misinformation, and the accounts of doctors and others were suspended both for tweeting opinions and demonstrably true information,” Zweig said.

Zweig goes on to name the names of some people who tweeted views at odds with public health authorities and the American left, the latter well represented at Twitter.

“In my review of internal files, I found countless instances of tweets labeled as ‘misleading’ or taken down entirely, sometimes triggering account suspensions, simply because they veered from CDC guidance or differed from establishment views,” Zweig wrote.

The Biden White House is directly implicated in the mass censorship.  The buck stops with Joe Biden.  It takes no great leap of imagination to reach the conclusion that Joe Biden ordered the censorship.

I believe that this is proof that Joe Biden committed an impeachable offense.  I am not the only person to reach this conclusion.

Did the Twitter Files Just Reveal an Impeachable Offense for Biden? (townhall.com)

Doctor Who Big Finish Primeval 2001

I must confess I was at a loss as to what to write for today’s lead post and even said so to DaWife when I spotted this piece via Lucianne.com by John Blumenthal and that problem was solved instantly.

He finds himself in a panic over the Tesla he owns:

I don’t know whether to sell, but I do know that I’m just not as comfortable driving it anymore.

You see the problem is that he bought the car because of liberal guilt and to impress his liberal fellows

My environmental activist friends were not impressed by my assiduous urban composting, LED bulb installations and energy-saving appliances. I needed to do more to diminish my carbon footprint. The icebergs were melting, my friends said, and at least one polar bear was wandering around homeless and hungry because of me.

Many insisted that Teslas were the best for the environment. Pricey but worth it. So I said goodbye to my gas guzzler and made the leap.

So you made a major purchase, and more than that a pricy major purchase because your friends were not impressed enough by your steps to save the world? Because they thought you weren’t woke enough? Seriously

Ah but now the wheels have turned:

Because of the recent revelation of Elon Musk’s political views — all of which I abhor — I’m starting to worry about what sort of political statement the car is making.

You mean a car is about making a political statement and not about getting from one place to another? I wonder what kind of statement my 99 Buick LeSabre makes?

Will people see me as a symbol of right-wing environmentalism, a living oxymoron?

Oh no somebody might disapprove of me! I’m in crisis again:

It’s a beautifully designed car with no carbon emission, and initially, I was proud of owning it and being seen driving a vehicle that displayed my concern for the environment. But I’m a liberal, and if Musk’s politics don’t change radically for the better, driving a Tesla will become, at least for me, as hypocritical and untenable as driving a gas guzzler was.

So now after getting rid of the car he had which had sentimental value to him in order to impress his liberal friends and feel good about himself, he spends a small fortune on a Tesla and now finds himself worrying about what those same liberal friends will think and puts himself in a guilt trip over his current car.

The irony? This weak willed follower is an example of elite opinion of today. The person who doesn’t think for themselves and acts only for the approval of the person next to him. If I wanted to create the stereotypical image of the Pajama boy liberal, I couldn’t have done better than this. He’s the point and laugh poster boy.

Men, don’t be like this, ladies if this type of guy asks you out, run, fast!
