Got a comment on an old post from a Lizzardoid who disagreed with me his conclusion:
What’s really happening here is the right is in la la land right now. CJ is merely the messenger. I’ve voted Red my whole life and I’m as conservative as anybody: the Right has serious problems right now. Attacking CJ is shooting the messenger.
He’s certainly welcome to his opinion (read his whole comment). I wrote him a long response and as there as been little action on the McCain/Johnson front I figured it would be a good promotion to explain my position to late comers to the debate. I won’t blockquote it since they are my words just promoted:
…I have to disagree with you on that one. My initial comment on the Rush issue was deleted when I was banned but it certainly didn’t rise to the level you were describing, in fact I didn’t know I was banned until I tried to put up my follow-up comment and found myself logged out.
Also if Charles was simply holding the right to the same standard he does to the left why the particular timing? I would point you to my follow up posts here and here concerning timing and Irony.
As I’ve said, I’ve never met or talked to Charles, he might be a very nice guy. I’m more than pleased to have him as an ally even now on both Israel and the War on Terror. I would love to have him sign my statement of common principles (you are welcome to do so too). I’ve defended him in the past and will agree with him when he is right.
But I think his current actions are due more to spite than anything else, that’s just my opinion. I saw his stuff and I talked to Robert Stacy McCain and given what I’ve seen and heard I’m going to have to take Robert’s side over his in fact I’m honor bound to do so.
Like the 20% who once approved of the president who now do not. The people who no longer support Charles didn’t suddenly become wrong or racist or nutjobs overnight. Rush didn’t go from Rush Limbaugh, Honorary Lizardoid to racist overnight either. The timing seems to suggest that once Beck hit him any ally of beck or once removed ally of Beck is to be suspect. It reminds me of an Aunt of mine who is rapidly running out of people she will talk to.
Something has changed and the logical conclusion is that it is Charles.
But you never know; I haven’t given up on him, I’ll tease him a bit but hey we all have our faults. If his attacks on the right get some liberals to take his posts on the war on terror seriously maybe it will work out in the end.
I’ll say a prayer for him and keep an eye open. When I see him willing to hit the left and Soros like he used to then I might change my mind but until then, I’ll remain in happy exile and just have to wish you all the best in your personal lives.

Yep after all can’t have that.
In reality Charles pays the bills and can do what he wants, if he and others there want to deleude themselves as to what’s going on that’s there problem.
I just refuse to go along with said fantasy nor am I going to allow it to be propagated when I know better.
Again the misinformation of who got banned when and for why: maybe CJ was quick on the trigger to you DaTechguy but many were banned for doing the bad things, not something as benign as sticking up for another banned poster. I say Peg go down and she did not go for merely sticking up for you.
I see people disagree all the time and they’re still there.
We probably aren’t going to change each other’s minds so I’ll merely ask the obvious question: when and why did Charles change, and why is he spiteful?
It’s a rhetorical question. The right wing has changed. CJ merely called BS with the advent of euroracists joining the anti-jihad movement and it’s been getting nutty ever since.
Doubling down and standing up for Robert Stacey McCain will win you the wrong friends and influence the wrong people. Going by what he’s said (not what CJ or Media Matters said he said) that’s not the kind of guy I’d want to join with.
At worst CJ is ban happy and spiteful if true. That’s absolutely inconsequential to the craziness going on in the right wing now.
I actually think that is pretty easy to trace, look at the base post of mine and the dates therein. Right after his clash with Beck the amount of posts that hit his normal targets pretty much stopped to quote my banned post:

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.
Now I do confess I’m not familiar with Mr. Rose so I’m just taking him at his word. If you are more familiar with his banning I’m certainly willing to approve your comment on the subject.
As for the right, he is correct about the Birther business and the Nirther business but when it comes to religion lately he seems to be like Andrew Sullivan and gay marriage, it’s as if a red flag is being waved in front of the bull.

Either way I would suggest you look through the archives, take a look at the post staring with the “heads explode” series and then observe the posts that follow, I did and was astounded.
Anyways it’s after 1 a.m. here so I’ll end this comment now. Take care and as I said before, don’t hesitate to stop on by to defend Charles, you can even bring the other lizards along to do so, they are welcome, after all if my views have any value they can stand up under fire.
If I was banned for something other than simply trying to relay a message for Datechguy – I’d like to know what it was.
Honestly though – the real truth is that I didn’t feel too bad about getting banned. The ONLY time people have spoken to me in such foul and nasty language is when I have discussed politics with other “progressives” in political email groups.
Personally – I think it is INSANITY when people who barely know you accuse you of racism, call you disgusting names, and use language I would never use anywhere. I don’t mind disagreeing with people – but – there should be some standards and shreds of decorum.
I have friends with enormously divergent views. I have friends who are devoutly religious; I have friends who are atheists. I have friends who are very liberal, friends who are very conservative – and friends who are libertarian and friends who don’t pay much attention to politics at all.
But – these days, LGF seems like some clique of Charles devotees with their own little secret codes and ways of doing things. Woe to those who don’t follow the secret club policies – as I did not, as I don’t really even know what they are/were.
I still contend it is quite sad. I always visited LGF, saw many fascinating posts – and was so grateful to Charles for his expose of Rather. Today, though? I feel kinda slimy after reading the comments.
I strongly believe I deserve an apology from some (especially that vile Sharmuta) – and I am pretty sure it will never, ever come.
