Q: Why are the retirements of all these vulnerable democrats not as good a bit of news as it should be to a conservative?

Not having to worry about the people they represent they can feel free to vote for the travesty of a bill and then reap the rewards of appointments, panels and think tanks affiliated with the left for doing so.

Everything costs something.

Warning! this post is going to contain rank Speculation! I will mark it when I come to it.

The exchange on the Patterico/McCain business continues and has spilled over to other blogs, some that I like but don’t read daily such as Little Miss Attila, some that I only read once in a while such as Protein Wisdom and some that I’ve never seen before but I think I’ll read more often such as South Texan (thanks for the link btw).

I like a good debate as much as the next guy and tend to enjoy it. This debate is trickier than others because a person’s reputation is at stake, so here is what I think concerning this.

I think that both Robert Stacy and Patterico are acting in good faith. I don’t think this is a question of a grudge although there is the potential for one two develop. I think that would be a shame.

Ok here comes the totally unsubstantiated speculation because I’m talking about other people’s motives without asking them. This is my opinion and guess and is based on nothing except that: (more…)

Sarah Palin continues to prove herself a master of political Jiu-Jitsu.

Palin’s statement causes Gore to respond. Since Gore is responding the networks cover it and are forced to cover the climategate issue, even to discount it, but Palin also throws back:

Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.

Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.

and the networks (like Morning Joe this morning) cover that too.

The end result of all of this will be people’s exposure to the evidence, this can’t but hurt the Climate change cult as thread after thread that defends the “decline hiders” turns into rebuttal from normally reliable readers.

Most importantly while the usual suspects cry foul, fair people on the other side are asking probing questions about the data.

The worm is turning and their fear is palatable. When Palin can go toe to toe with as seasoned a pol as a former congressman, Senator and 2 term Vice president from a political family and come out not only ahead but standing the left has to be shaking.

Exit Question: Is it a coincidence that one person in this debate is making public appearances all over the country, while the other ducks public forums?

Q: What is the one thing that president has done that might cause him to be worthy of the prize he is now receiving.

If this president manages to pull out a win in Afghanistan and defeats the Taliban then he will actually have taken a decisive action that makes his prize something he deserves.

And I don’t think he is going to pull out in 2011, I think he may get a primary challenge because of it (that he will beat back) but I think in the end he is going to fight to win.

Lets hope he manages to earn it.
