Yeah it’s a real story

But it sure looks silly on its face:

They got paid to write this.

No really? I thought they would open it up on special occasions, birthdays, national holidays, drunken parties for billionares etc.

The actual story is here and it does have substance:

Suttles’ announcement seemed to alter the strategy that Coast Guard Admiral Thad W. Allen (ret.), the federal government’s point man in the disaster, had described on Saturday. Allen had extended a two-day “integrity test” on the well until Sunday. But, Allen said, when the test was eventually done, it would likely be re-opened and connected to pipes that would siphon the leak up toward ships on the surface.

But on Sunday, Suttles said that the process of fitting the well with those pipes would have allowed oil to flow into the gulf for perhaps three days. Instead, he said, the “test” of the closed cap would continue indefinitely. A BP spokesman said the decision was made in consultation with the government, and that Allen has the authority to have the well opened if he sees the need.

I think that BP and the administration would much rather not have oil flowing regularly into the Gulf live on camera.

Joe Biden wisely stated that the tea party is not a racist organization:

“I don’t believe, the president doesn’t believe that the Tea Party is — is a racist organization. I don’t believe that,” Biden said. “Very conservative. Very different views on government and a whole lot of things. But it is not a racist organization.”

But then he BS on the Washington business:

A black Congressman walking up the stairs of the Capitol,” he said, referring to alleged racist epithets said to an African-American Congressmen by alleged Tea Party members during the apogee of the debate over health care reform.

Doesn’t provide any evidence, just repeats it, no 100k for Joe. On the Round Table on ABC Clarence Page plays that card and George Will shot him down big bringing up the 100k. Page changes the subject, no 100k for him either.

But when Palin’s response was brought up, what was actually said wasn’t touched on, only the “why doesn’t she just say she condemns any racism in the tea party.” In other words accepting the Tea Party is “racist”.

Good thing we have that good republican Nicole Wallace on that Panel to back up Palin eh?

Maybe it would be a good idea to have someone who has actually attended a tea party rally and supports it during such a discussion. Has Dana Loesch and Breitbart fallen off the face of the earth?

Glenn describes Biden as throwing the NAACP under the bus. I wouldn’t go that far, but it does further beclown them despite the best efforts of the majority of the ABC panel to make them relevant.

No Memeorandum thread yet, I’ll keep an eye on it.

Update: Looks like Biden could have used the dough:

The Federal Election Commission has penalized Vice President Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign $219,000 for accepting over-the-limit contributions and a discounted flight on a jet owned by a New York hedge fund. His campaign also was charged with sloppy record-keeping.

100k could help there.

Four on an Island

1st District Candidate Bill Gunn held a standout in Fitchburg Yesterday at the intersections of Bemis Road, Summer Street and John Fitch Highway.

It was a hot day to be out but Bill’ supporters were undeterred and they greeted the passers by:

Waving to the passers by

And posed for the blogger in the hat:

And explained their support

A candidate has to be pretty good to get a young guy to spend his birthday holding a sign on a traffic Island in Fitchburg. Let’s see what the candidate has to say.

You don’t often see a candidate with his motorcycle do you?

Bill Gunn Ma-1 on his way to the next event

I’ll wager that’s not the a shot you see every day of a congressional candidate.

Actual Cover Mutant Phase

My review of Big Finish Adventure #15. The Mutant Phase. Featuring the 5th Doctor and Nyssa is available at Amazon.com here.

Although in general an above average audio there are some exchanges between the Doctor and Nyssa that are particularly memorable and the

As always you can pick this up at Mike’s comics. You can also listen to a trailer the adventure here.

I’ve mentioned this before but Colin Brockhurst has done some first rate alternative cover art for some Big Finish CD’s. I think his mutant Phase cover is one of his best. Big Finish should really consider using his art professionally.
