Ok he spoke now what?

Well President Obama gave his speech at ND some thoughts.

The speech itself was frankly forgettable, his speech in Arizona was far superior (no matter what Rush said concerning it).

The Protests were rather large and the media’s total ignoring of any protest outside of eyeshot of the event was lame but predictable.

The few protesters at ND who heckled him did us no favors.

Till the very last moment Catholic Students, Catholic Teachers and Catholic Priests had the chance to do the right thing. They failed. We all fail and Catholics have confession to fall back on. May they take advantage of it quickly.

The damage to the Catholic nature of the school can’t be measured. As almost no Catholic Schools commented their silence condemns them as well. My decision to send my son to a secular school (aided by the scholarship) looks really good.

I know that a Canon suit is being filed against the school. I can’t see how the school can win.

Now that the event is over a forced transfer of Jenkins by the Bishop or by the Vatican would certainly be in order.

This is going to cost ND for decades.

Yup we lost 2 game 7’s in Boston in one week.

6:49 a.m. Barnicle: We had to bankrupt the village in order to save it.

7:02 a.m. Hate mail for Joe.

7:03 a.m. If they liked that ND speech then they didn’t see the same speech that I did.

7:04 a.m. Some people on the left are haters, True just check out the evening lineup on MSNBC.

7:05 a.m. I don’t know who the young guy is but he is right about the birth certificate and the Muslim thing, Pat not withstanding.

7:06 a.m. Open hearts open minds. Put the words “slavery” or “torture” there and see what happens.

7:20 a.m. Shrum is a joke but again but on Dick if the republicans were in such trouble why does MSNBC go nuts on us? Why aren’t they ignoring us.

7:22 a.m. Dick Cheney is winning the argument, he would rather get the security stuff right than win the votes.

7:25 a.m. Shrum is attacking the CIA that’ll work out well.

7:27 a.m. Either Leon is lying or Nancy is. He claims that he is defending the CIA for appearances sake.

7:28 a.m. Absolutely Nancy is telling us a truth. Her stories add up completely.

7:30 a.m. He is doing it with a straight face that’s why he gets the big bucks. Nobody on Joe is willing to put up with Shrum’s BS.

7:31 a.m. My God these people at on the show are acting like ACTUAL REPORTERS! No wonder Joe has faith in newspapers, they assume that reporters at the papers act like these guys.

7:35 a.m. My mother just showed up to take me to breakfast for my birthday. So I’ll be outta here shortly.

So while the media keeps the focus on Carrie Prejean’s tits and continue attacks on Miss California’s opposition to Gay Marriage stuff like this is going on:

Riot police violently broke up several gay rights demonstrations in Moscow on Saturday, hauling away scores of protesters hours before the Russian capital hosted a major international pop music competition.

City officials had warned they would not tolerate marches or rallies supporting the rights of gays and lesbians. Activists had targeted Moscow, which was holding the finals of the Eurovision song contest on Saturday, to press their claims that Russia officially sanctions homophobia.

Police seized gay rights protesters as well as some members of religious and nationalist groups that staged counter-demonstrations.

Via Glenn who is sure that president Obama’s administration will get to objecting as soon as Axelrod disposes of other priories.

Armed Forces day at Ft. Devens

Spent most of yesterday at Ft. Devens for the first Armed forces day celebration there in the last 10 years. Since large chunks of the original post became a civilian community called Devens people forget that there is still a post there where you will find 1000 troops or more training and on duty on any given day.

There were 4 bands ranging from country to rock. Beverages provided by the Wachusett Brewery Company’s portable truck and Texas Road House doing the ribs, burgers etc. And a vast array of interesting stuff from Military Dog Demonstrations, WWII weapons, a chance to Dunk the CO at the Dunk tank and hardware and people from all services from the Coast Guard to the Marines.

A very good time was had by all local stories on the event are here and here.
