You know I am very proud to support Israel…

…against the barbarians lined up against them, but you know as a Catholic the idea that the Pope owes the state of Israel an apology for the Holocaust is not only nonsense but in my opinion requires an apology for the attempt to hang Hitler’s final solution around the neck of my church in general and this Pope in particular.

The democratic state of Israel is waging a just struggle against lying barbarians who would slaughter them all and then cheer. They deserve support and as a civilized man I am obliged to give it. The Jewish race and religion are the older brothers of my Catholic faith. They are no less God’s people then they were when God spoke to Abram. They deserve respect. These are facts and one insult is not going to change it, but I’m feeling very Josey Walesish today.

BTW I want to again give Israellycool big props. I suspect we don’t agree on this issue but he posted the speech in full and linked to the reactions so people could make up their own mind. He has been very fair and to continue the metaphor from above, brothers disagree and get angry on occasion, but that doesn’t mean we don’t stick together.

Q: What does this have to do with a Rabbi?

A: Edwardo Michelangelo Vitagiliano is a 61 year old native of Fitchburg. He went to Fitchburg High School graduating with the same class as Mike Barnicle. He went to Vietnam and still never talks of it. That is where he picked up the nickname “The Rabbi”. From that day on, only his late Mother and his wife of almost 40 years call him by his actual name. He moved to Florida about 6 years ago and currently lives there.

He known for his knowledge of sports, he love of warm weather, and his absolutely horrible jokes. He will tell a joke that is horrendous and then pump is fist saying either “I’ve got a million of them.” (He Does) or “I’ve still got it.” (Unfortunately he does). The people who know and love him after decades of these jokes refer to any joke that is sufficiently bad as a “Rabbi” joke, that is a joke that would be told by the Ed “the Rabbi” Vitagiliano.

So when you see the “Rabbi Joke” label beware the joke that follows is likely very bad.

Update: Actually his wife is 61. He is older but I don’t know his exact age.

Anderson Cooper is losing to Olberman’s RERUNS!

The amiable star is about to be passed in the late evening cable ratings by Keith “Worst Shouter on Cable News” Olberman taped reruns.

Ouch!

Maybe the Obama White House’s recent expressed preference for MSNBC, reported here in The Ticket, is helping out the NBC outlet.

This is a great example of Rush being right. To wit:

Fox is clearly right leaning, anyone who denies that is not honest. They have been for years and have earned a large amount of loyalty from the right.

MSNBC is clearly left leaning (actually in my opinion beyond left leaning but a person of the left might say the same about Fox) anyone who denies that is not honest. They have in my opinion made a decision to program in that direction. They have earned the loyalty of liberals who have over the last few years moved farther left.

CNN leans left but doesn’t affirm the left to the degree that MSNBC does. They will throw the odd bone to the right but the right doesn’t trust them.

If the audience was in the middle or even center left CNN could draw them, but the country is center right. CNN is in the wilderness that is not where the people are.

Moderates are not a majority.

7:00 a.m. Photos of Miss California in a hot swimsuit, this is a scandal?

7:01 a.m. Mika doesn’t get the satan thing, isn’t she a Catholic? If she is a Catholic that shouldn’t be weird at all. Tina Brown is one thing but Mika and Mike are both supposed to be Catholic. That earns the post the “War on God” post.

7:02 a.m. I understood what Steele was saying, if they can’t then they are not even trying.

7:04 a.m. She is right about the plastic surgery and nobody is asking it. Why not?

7:05 a.m. They shake their head because Palin called Miss California to offer support and they are making fun of it. Didn’t Palin go through the same?

7:05 a.m. They mention the Pope’s visit but not the walkout. I’d say that was news.

7:08 a.m. It may seem like Christmas now for the left now but Cheney is right and reality has the habit of rising to the surface. 2010 and 2012 is going to be very interesting.

7:10 a.m. Did these guys notices that Powell voted democratic last time?

7:11 a.m. Ok if you don’t think he is doing this for love of country what IS the reason.

7:22 a.m. Mika asks a solid question and Savanah refers to the memo’s as the “so called” torture memos. My God she is a real reporter!

7:31 a.m. “Opponents of health care” that is like “opposing immigration” We oppose NATIONAL health care. We can’t let them get away with the playing with languages.

7:40 a.m. Nobody is saying that the Obama administration shouldn’t hit the former one. A big Zing from Liz Cheney.

7:41 a.m. Joe is calling in…and points out the media double standard and the selective release of intel.

8:00 a.m. Liz Cheney is staying to talk to Eugene Robinson that should be interesting.

8:04 a.m. This is one of the reasons why war sucks. , the problem is the alternative is often worse.

8:08 a.m. I see you want him to shut up because you disagree with him.

8:09 a.m. She crashed his car as a teen. I’m afraid of that one myself.

8:10 a.m. Cheney is just taking him apart.

8:13 a.m. This is a great debate but Ms. Cheney needs to let Robinson make his point.

8:14 a.m. Robinson makes a good point about the legality, Cheney makes a great point about how the legalities were established.

8:15 a.m. God she is able to defend against him AND Barnicle get this woman in the White House.

8:16 a.m. Cheney hits the point, is waterboarding torture or not. That is the actual question. Who is right depends on the answer to that question.

8:18 a.m. Barnicle makes a great point that if he is the only card we have the intelligence is in trouble. Cheney agrees.

8:20 a.m. Why aren’t people talking. Maybe because of the talk of prosecution.

8:22 a.m. PLEASE PLEASE HAVE HER ON AGAIN! I’ll even not change the channel when Andrea Mitchell comes on.

8:25 a.m. Boy I wish Liz was here for this segment.

8:27 a.m. If Cheney was there she wouldn’t let Mitchell get away with the torture line in fact even though she said afterward advanced interrogation she made finger quotes to say “yeah right”. Can you say squirm?

8:30 a.m. She claims American values trump American safety (she didn’t use the term American safety).

8:33 a.m. Carlos Watson compares Dick Cheney to Roger Clemens in terms of passionate defense, he wouldn’t have gotten away with that if she was still there.

8:34 a.m. They didn’t get to the point. Mika is correct this is not a winning issue for Democrats.
