Post 1001 What Would WBUR do?

Via Gateway Pundit comes this story of embracing diversity at NPR.

In 1985, National Public Radio (NPR) adopted a policy stating that member stations had to provide “nonsectarian, non-political, noncommercial” educational programming. But in February 2009, the wording was changed to say: “NPR Member Stations shall provide ONLY [emphasis added] nonsectarian, non-political, noncommercial educational content on all broadcast channel(s) and related media distribution platforms such as member partners that use the NPR member brands.”

The rule, which takes effect May 1, means that any NPR stations carrying religious programming must cease and desist that programming as of that date. In explaining its decision in a similar matter, PBS — another federally funded media outlet — says it “places a high value on presenting diverse perspectives, as opposed to rigidly adhering to any single political or religious point of view.” Allowing such programming, it continues, “would cause the public’s trust in PBS to erode, along with the value of the brand.”

I’m sure the conservative public won’t change their opinion of NPR over this but I was wondering about WBUR out of Boston University that I occasionally listen to.

They have two regular religious programs. Speaking of Faith and the services from the University’s Marsh Chapel. I presume that at least the chapel service will have to go.

I’d be very interested in what WBUR has to say about that. I’ll e-mail them and let you know.

Cops and Doughnuts gotta love it.

If this story doesn’t make you smile you haven’t been paying attention:

The sergeant, who trains correctional officers at the Walworth County Jail, is the world’s cop doughnut eating champion for the third time.

The 17 doughnuts he downed in three minutes to win this year’s championship April 22 also set a cop doughnut-eating record. Sawyers has won the championship more times than anybody—three out of the six annual contests.

You have to like people who are willing to poke fun at themselves.

6:04 a.m. Tom Ridge, Tom Ridge, Tom Ridge blah blah blah Yeah run a Bush administration re-tread that will work. Democrats are salivating at the thought of running against ridge if they are smart.

6:06 a.m. The times company is the most mismanaged company…

6:08 a.m. Kemp nice guy, but failed and lost. If people bought his ideas then they would have been done

6:12 a.m. That’s not a bribe its an entitlement, boy is that a senator talking or not?

6:18 a.m. You know that Reagan that Joe keeps talking about. The press loved him and still loves him as much as they loved George W. Bush. They pretend it never happened but they savaged him.

6:20 a.m. Yet another vote for style over substance.

6:38 a.m. There is a difference between hating a man and hating his policy. That’s Deval Patrick. I’ve met him, nice guy, willing to discuss what you disagree with, dead wrong and a lousy governor.

6:40 a.m. Watching Freeland say how nice Reagan was makes me sick, Reporters HATED Reagan. It’s so phony.

6:42 a.m. Willie points out the left is just as bad if not worse.

6:44 a.m. His manor is reaching out, it’s full of bull. He is left wing, we are cheering for smoke and mirrors. Reagan never pretended to be moderate.

6:51 a.m. Did I hear that lady in the background shout “Where is global warming?”

6:58 a.m. Draft Stormy? Joe: “Are there a lot of pictures?” Willie: “Yes but you have to have a credit card”

6:59 a.m. And of Course Freeland equates the porn star to Miss California they are so alike…

7:09 a.m. Barnicle lets the cat of out the bag that other than the sports section and older folks New England wouldn’t miss the Globe.

7:33 a.m. Andrea Mitchel is on, lucky for me I haven’t eaten yet this morning.

7:35 a.m. The media always seem to love republicans’ once they are dead.

7:40 a.m. Why don’t you ask a woman about this. So they ask her and she hesitates.

7:41 a.m. Carloe king is next, time to change the channel

7:45 a.m. She is not on yet, getting ready to switch to Fox and Friends as soon as she is. Now comes swine flu stuff.

7:49 a.m. Here comes Carole King, so here comes Fox and Friends liveblog…

…7:49 a.m. They are interviewing the Kentucky Derby winners 50-1 shot.

7:50 a.m. Making your own cleaning supplies out of Vodka? Mika will be outraged!

7:54 a.m. Crisco can shine leather. Use Country Time to clean your dishwasher. Throw orange peels and icecubes to clean the garbage disposal. Ketchup to shine Copper? Clean your cutting board with a lemon.

7:56 a.m. Vanilla is very expensive for cleaning a freezer. Vodka on your sweaters will get rid of the musty smell. That was rather cool. Apparently this is the regular do it yourself segment…

…8:00 a.m. Carole king is off on a web chat and we’re back to Morning Joe

8:03 a.m. Shelby in studio for a change, no wonder King is somewhere else.

8:07 a.m. Shelby still says: “let them die” Good!

8:09 a.m. When they say mistakes were made that means bad thing were happening.

8:15 a.m. Considering that Shelby is in studio, why not ask him to hang around for another segment? They have done that with people who have “D”‘s next to their name.

8:18 a.m. That is a funny clip but it highlights that comedians still won’t make fun of Obama.

8:19 a.m. That is a very good point in terms of political savvy, that never hit me.

8:21 a.m. Of course it is ungovernable, the liberal legislature has made it so, that is why people are fleeing.

8:25 a.m. Asking about Miss California. Will you have her on your radio show? I’d have her on while disagreeing with her.

8:27 a.m. They all want to “engage” with her. Mika would have scolded them.

8:30 a.m. Did I just see an ad for a new Yusef “Cat Stevens” album. Hey why not the taliban’s greatest hits?

8:34 a.m. Apparently our companies pay a much higher tax rate than most other countries. Reality rules with Erin.

8:45 a.m. Courtney “acknowledged” Hazlett is next

8:50 a.m. The reviews hated wolverine, why does that not surprise me?

8:53 a.m. The Globe’s workers have no choice in her opinion.

8:59 a.m. “When Mika sees the tape of this we are all dead.”

How can you tell that the president is no longer named Bush?

Because this headline and story can run in the dying Boston Globe:

Accidental deaths plaguing US in Iraq

The 130,000 American troops serving in Iraq are more likely to die in accidents, from natural causes, or in other “nonhostile” incidents than at the hands of insurgents, according to Defense Department statistics for the past eight months ending in April.

Funny I don’t remember the Globe ever noticing a difference between combat and non combat deaths before or mentioning Accidental anything. It was all about the Evil BushCheneyHitlerNeoConRepublican destroying young American boys and girls and pillaging and ravings Iraq.

The Globe better get it out of their system while they can, they have so little time
