This may sound cruel to some people but what happened to kids?

There were no shortage of bullies when I was a kid, particularly when you were a fat kid like I was, but we didn’t kill ourselves over it or need the state to pass laws to protest us.

If these kids can’t be taught how to deal with this stuff without litigation when they are young how strong are they going to be when they have to deal with real life which is much more unforgiving?

There are laws against assault, if people are assaulting others the assault laws can be used.

There are laws against libel, if people are being libeled those laws can be used.

What kind of generation are we raising? No wonder we can’t convince people to stand up to Jihadists. If we need legislation to stand up to bullies in school we are going to just wilt when real threats come up.

Comments
  1. All those bullied kids grew up to be legislators.

  2. Cousin Sam says:

Not only that, but back in my day, when we got bullied, it left bruises! It hurt. The “bullying” that our legislators and media seem so concerned about seems to be along the lines of somebody posting harsh comments about you on their Facebook page, not so much the violent kind of bullies. Those aren’t *bullies*, those are *gossips*. Man, I wish the bullies of my day had had Facebook, but they only had fists!

  3. Well, as a (sort of…) young’un, my query is thus: what happened to parents? It’s not the kids who are passing the laws. The kids aren’t on the legislature. The kids aren’t suing.

So, IMHO (ha!), this comes from two sources: this ridiculous “Do it for the children, and if you oppose this law, you hate children and want them to suffer” mentality, and the idea that we can create a utopia on earth, especially if enough regulation is involved. (We all know that the route to eternal happiness, not misery and headaches, is through statutes. {eye roll})
