Iraq reality vs Iraq fantasy…

Yesterday at the Oscars that I didn’t watch, a movie that I didn’t see, painting yet another grim picture of a war that hollywood still doesn’t support managed to win an Oscar.

War is a grim thing and those who fight it understand that its ending is a wonderful thing but wars are fought for a reason and for a result.

Meanwhile in the real world Iraq had an election yesterday and despite violence by those who want to kill this very young republic. They don’t seem to be succeeding.

Hollywood’s biggest failure has been their repeated attempts to convince the American People that Iraq is Vietnam and their attempts to paint the soldiers of Iraq the same way they painted Vietnam vets.

If we neglect our duties to God, which is a sin by the way, eventually the curtain will begin to be drawn around our souls. Our “system” will be overwhelmed, our intellect dulled, and we will be unprepared for the battles we will surely face in the upcoming years. The powers of darkness are fierce, unrelenting, and working overtime.

Yup that’s about right.

1. attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles.
2. discrimination or devaluation based on a person’s sex, as in restricted job opportunities; esp., such discrimination directed against women.

Liberal Caveat:

This definition does not all will not apply at any time when the woman in question is Sarah Palin to Wit, this joke…

KATHY GRIFFIN: She was so famous as Governor, you know, when John McCain picked her after meeting her for ten minutes. And, um, that must have been some blowjob.

Is not to be considered sexist, demeaning to women or an example of objectifying women.

Glenn Reynolds tell the tale.

I just noticed one formerly friendly journalist dissing me in the comments on a lefty blog, and when I checked my email I noticed that the friendly messages stopped right after I plugged his book.

You know if you treat people with respect you will earn respect, if you act like a weasel don’t expect people to remember you as anything but weaselly.

Glenn shows the class that the person he refers to doesn’t by not naming him. I suspect any subsequent book however won’t get a plug. Nothing like burning bridges is there?

Update: A lesson for the journalist in question: Instead of abandoning someone who does me a favor I sent a thank you note for the promotion of my attempt to make a living at this and got a very friendly reply…and ANOTHER Instalanche.

People are not a commodity to be used and discarded. They are our friends and brothers to be treasured and respected.
