The Catholic faith has a rich tradition , actual Catholics fight against abortion as an intrinsic evil.
Geroge Soros has a rich bank account, rich enough to fund pseudo catholic groups to give a veneer of respectability to what is not.
As you know I’m not working right now, I suspect if I was willing to sell my faith this way on the blog I would never have to worry about money again. It’s amazing what some people will do for funding and publicity. It brings a whole new meaning to the expression: “Selling one’s soul”.
And to answer Stacy McCain, we Catholics are aware of groups like this and of the National Catholic Reporter for some time. With them actual belief is an optional extra. Just check the archives of the American Papist.
The best way to describe them is a “modernist”, as per this clip from Yes Prime Minister. The church being described is Anglican but the principle is the same.
Yup that the NCR all right, a cross between a socialite and a socialist.

Unfortunately accurate Makes Catholics look bad, just like the Kennedys did with their shenanigans. One wonders what our beloved bishops have been doing for the last 40 years, doesn’t it. Archbishop Sheen, where are you when we need you?
The Cheesehead “Catholic priest” signatory (Massingale) also supports gay “marriage.”

Prediction: the socialism-isation (yes, that’s a word :p ) of the Catholic Church is the beginning of an effort to eradicate the pro-life position from the faith.
One of the things I’ve noticed (and blogged about a few weeks ago) is that progressive Catholics will try to equate socialism (i.e. doing by government that which should be done by charity) with the Catholic faith, saying that since Catholics are obligated to care for the poor, it’s wrong to deny government funding for welfare, etc. That’s bad enough as is (as it removes the ability for people to be truly charitable with their own money and give from the heart, not because the IRS will throw them in prison otherwise).
Now they’re doing this with health care, and they claim that abortion is health care. So the next step will be to fuse those two wrong doctrines (abortion = health care and Catholicism = socialised medicine) and say that all good Catholics should be for government-funded abortion.
That’s my prediction. I’ve been wrong before, but I think we can expect to see this with in the next few years.
