Has it occurred to anyone that he might never have wanted to go to congress and only did it because his father wanted him to?
That is very possible, if that’s so then leaving might be a good thing for him. If it gets his head on straight and gets him right with the church it could be a very positive event for him personally.
No matter what I think of him politically, he is a fellow person and if he can improve himself then that is a good thing and I’m all for it.

I was wondering about that myself. I hope you’re right.
I like happy endings, and there is no reason why he doesn’t deserve one too.
No family in American history – not the Roosevelt, not the Adams, and certainly not the Bush families – have paid a higher price in the service of the people than the Kennedys. And to be perfectly honest with you, I’m sick and tired of listening to them get kicked around by the clueless right wing.
It was announced yesterday that Ben Quayle, son of the former vice-president, will be running for congress. We here, at this glorious moment in the history of our great nation, are proud and privileged to bear witness to the birth of the Quayle family political dynasty.
I need a drink.

Power comes at cost, people who desire power want it for the sake of that cost. Sometimes the costs are high and sometimes they are low. Kennedy’s family got a lot from their public service and perhaps that was worth it to them and to old Joe Kennedy.
The price for that power certainly included JFK and Bobby Kennedy’s lives a high price indeed, but it also included Mary Jo Kopechne life too though some might want to pretend otherwise.
People can argue if it was a net gain or loss for the country till doomsday, but I’ve been represented by Kennedy’s all my life, and believe me it’s been long past the time for a change.
