Question: Why did Tycoon Sidney Harman purchase Newsweek and take on its debts as described by the Daily Caller?
After all you don’t want to risk a magazine browsed by many disinterested readers in doctor’s offices around the country to be exposed to anything resembling conservative thought. What would wife in congress say?
Hey if rich liberals want to throw their money away, that’s their business.
Memeorandum thread here.

Also, didn’t Harman eat all the debt? I’m sure that the debt in question is tantamount to political favors for the wife.
It all boils down to a cost of doing business.
Yes, it would be surprising if Newsweek went off in a new direction, but not astonishing. Keep in mind that Rep. Harmon is a Blue Dog, who would probably be happier as a liberal Republican (of the “us too, but we’re cheaper!” wing of the party) if the California Republican Party weren’t such a disgusting crowd of pseudo-elitist failed embezzlers.
The CRP (supply your own vowel) is an albatross around the neck of conservatism in general and Republicans in particular. One of the reasons Hollywood is so reliably liberal is that anybody forced to deal with the California Republicans has to bathe in disinfectant afterward.
