Stacy McCain Explains.

A memeorandum thread on this?

Actually Casey Fiano (who is expecting, congrats to her and her new husband) no slouch in a Bikini herself makes an actual point that has nothing to do with the curves on young Miss Hoeven and everything to do with Liberal stereotyping:

And when Sarah Palin came to prominence, everyone on the internet was scouring to find bikini pictures of her as well. They like to paint conservatives as frigid, dried up, ugly old prudes, and of course, that couldn’t be further from the truth. And they hope that showing pictures of a conservative — or their family members — in bikinis will mean that other conservatives will be outrageously outraged. They’re always shocked when bikini photos do not, in fact, derail conservative candidates’ campaigns.

It’s no different that our friends on the left being convinced that tea party members will be absolutely outraged at the sight of a confederate flag being burned. To paraphrase what I said about this type of thing many months ago the fact that some people are making what they are of this say a whole lot more about them then it does about us. They have watched too many episodes of Family Guy & Jon Stewart and no longer can tell the difference between real conservatives and extreme parodies.

I really like Morning Joe, I like Joe, I like Mika, I like Barnicle. They drive me nuts a lot because I DO like them. If I didn’t I wouldn’t care. (its the same way with Andrew Sullivan, he was one of the first blogs I ever read and when he went over the hill it hurt because I remember how great he used to be)

Today on Twitter he is doing a pubic service in a series of tweets explaining the political stunt used by Democrats who rather have a political point than help for 9/11 responders.

His tweets in sequence:

first

For those who don’t understand King/Weiner debate, here are the facts….

second

JoeNBC

1. You need 218 votes to pass a bill under regular order in the House of Representatives.

third

JoeNBC

2. Pelosi had over 250 votes to pass the 9/11 bill to help NY firefighters and cops.

fourth

JoeNBC

3. Pelosi and Democrats chose to bring up the bill in a way that would require a 2/3rds vote, effectively killing the bill.

fifth

JoeNBC

4. This procedure is called a “suspension” vote and is for non-controversial measures like naming post offices.

sixth

JoeNBC

5. Pelosi could have ruled Republican amendments out of order and still taken the majority-wins vote.

seventh

JoeNBC

I know many rabid ideologues don’t let facts get in the way, but House leaders chose to kill a 9/11 relief bill they could have passed.

Some might think this is unnecessary, but you should never assume that just because you know something other people do as well. People have to be constantly reminded by nature.

More please.

is a must read:

Just as we Catholics love to accuse protestants of “church shopping”, there has never been a time in the Church’s history that Catholics haven’t “priest shopped.” Want to use birth control? Need an annulment? Keep looking and you will find a priest who will lend, perhaps tacitly, a way for you to circumvent doctrine.

After you have finished her first rate post don’t miss the excellent post by Robert Kumpel that she quoted:

We have had individual bishops and/or the USCCB take positions that suggest:

1) Compassion means looking the other way at illegal immigration

2) Compassion means legitimizing homosexuality

3) A politician’s position on abortion is unimportant

4) Environmental concerns trump concern for the unborn

5) It is perfectly permissible (or even laudable) to vote for the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in history

6) Ordaining women is inevitable

7) The Holy Father’s liturgical roadmap is flawed

EVERY ONE OF THESE POSITIONS IS A LIE.

Love means to desire what is good for others. We can disagree about what is good, but goodness is built on the truth.

The biggest problem of the church is not its doctrine, it is those who particularly in positions of authority who ignore, misrepresent or teach it falsely for their own pride and/or popularity. When you have authority you are expected to use it, if you aren’t going to use it then you shouldn’t have it. The great church scandals of the last decade would have been avoid if Bishops and Cardinals did their jobs.

And I remind everyone that Catholicism is a totally voluntary choice. If you want another church there are thousands of other out there. Liberal churches in particular can use the bodies these days. If you don’t like Catholicism don’t be one.

I scheduled a short joke post about bikini scandals for about 11 a.m. in response to Stacy McCain’s post of yesterday but if you are talking Bikini scandals here is a real one.

A British holidaymaker has been charged with indecency in Dubai after walking through the world’s largest shopping centre in a bikini.

The woman was buying clothes and gifts in the Dubai Mall, fully dressed but in a low-cut top, when she was accosted by an Arabic woman and criticised for wearing ‘revealing clothing’.

The pair then became embroiled in a heated row in front of hundreds of bemused shoppers.

Incensed by the Arabic woman’s comments, the British woman told her to ‘mind her own business’ before stripping out of her clothes and ‘taunting’ the locals by walking around in only her bikini, it is alleged.

Laugh if you must but in area of France and England the covering of women is a defacto rule, violation of which means a beating. If this woman wasn’t a British National you can be sure this would have been her fate. If you don’t believe me as Sabatina James or Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Rafraf Barrak, or Nujood Ali.

memeorandum thread here.

Update: Interesting: Glenn, Robert Stacy and I are all listed under the Memeorandum thread. Yet nothing in Stacy’s post or Glenn’s either links to or deals with the subject of this story. does the algorythem just look for key words like “bikini” and assume the connection or does the fact that I linked to both of them while linking it to the post make it thing they are writing about it?

Update 2: Even more interesting: Glenn & Robert Stacy have been taken from this thread, Robert Stacy’s article is now a main article with its own thread with Glenn underneath it. Lesson to be learned: It is necessary for me to put up more posts containing the words “bikini scandal”.
